Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs‘ mother, Janice Combs, has responded to the “lies” about her in a new four-part Netflix docuseries. In a statement, Janice condemned the streaming giant and pushed back against some of the narratives about her relationship with her son. Netflix’s docuseries about Diddy arrived just two months after the disgraced rapper was sentenced to 50 months in prison with time served following his conviction on two prostitution charges. After the production became available for streaming, a spokesperson for the “Finna Get Loose” artist also spoke out against the documentary, implying some of the never-before-seen footage had been obtained illegally.

“I am writing this statement to correct some of the lies presented in the Netflix, Sean Combs: The Reckoning, released on December 2, 2025,” Janice said in a statement to Deadline. “These inaccuracies regarding my son Sean’s upbringing and family life is intentionally done to mislead viewers and further harm our reputation.”

The Netflix docuseries consists of four comprehensive episodes, detailing Diddy’s life from childhood to the present day. The episodes also feature horrifying allegations against Diddy made by former Bad Boy Records employees and “Making the Band” reality stars. According to Janice, Netflix took a “salacious” route to “promote the series,” which is being executive produced by Diddy’s longtime adversary, 50 Cent.

Elsewhere in her statement, Janice pushed back against a claim made by a former peer of her son’s who alleged the rapper once slapped her following the City College stampede in 1991. “The allegations stated by Mr. Kirk Burrows that my son slapped me while we were conversing after the tragic City College events on December 28, 1991, are inaccurate and patently false,” she said. “That was a very sad day for all of us.”

Janice also denied the claims that she was an abuser herself, explaining that, as a single mother, she raised her son “with love and hard work, not abuse.” Continuing, Janice said, “To the contrary, I loved and nurtured Sean. My memories of Sean growing up are one of a respectful and a diligent child and teenager. Sean has always been an industrious, goal oriented, over achiever.”

In her statement to Deadline, Janice made a stunning demand, urging Netflix to publicly retract any “distortions, falsehoods, and misleading statements” about her and her son.

A spokesperson from Diddy’s team shared a similar message almost immediately following the production’s release, accusing the producers and those involved with the series of having “personal grievances” with the rapper. They also criticized the streaming giant for rehashing past stories they claim are untrue. “The project was built around a one-sided narrative led by a publicly admitted adversary, and it repeats allegations without context, evidence, or verification.”

Netflix defended itself against the claims, though, according to The Blast, calling them “false.”

“The footage of Combs leading up to his indictment and arrest were legally obtained. This is not a hit piece or an act of retribution. Curtis Jackson is an executive producer but does not have creative control. No one was paid to participate,” the company said.

Aside from his relationship with his mother, “Sean Combs: The Reckoning” also explored the many sexual assault allegations against the father of seven. In fact, one of Diddy’s former artists, Aubrey O’Day, the frontwoman of the 2000s girl group Danity Kane, got candid about the inappropriate emails she said Diddy once sent to her.

Reading the message aloud, O’Day said one of them read, “I don’t wanna just f-ck you. I can see you being with some motherf-cker that you tell what to do. I make my woman do what I tell her to do, and she loves it.”

At another point in the series, O’Day recalled receiving terrifying information from another woman who claimed she once saw a “very inebriated” O’Day being assaulted by Diddy and an unnamed individual.

According to O’Day, she couldn’t remember much of the situation but asked a chilling question about the alleged encounter. “Does this mean I was raped? Is that what this means? I don’t even know if I was raped,” she said. “And I don’t want to know.”
