Josie Canseco’s Tribute To Charlie Kirk Sparks Backlash

She’s the daughter of baseball royalty and a rising star in the influencer world, but Josie Canseco has lit up social media for all the wrong reasons.

This was after she posted a heartfelt tribute to Charlie Kirk, the right-wing commentator who was shot dead last week.

Her words of condolence drew swift condemnation, splitting her fanbase and igniting furious debate.

Kirk was gunned down last Wednesday at Utah Valley University.

Police quickly identified 22-year-old Tyler Robinson as the alleged assassin. Robinson has since surrendered and remains in custody.

In the wake of Kirk’s death, Canseco, 28, shared her shock and sorrow online.

Posting a picture of Kirk holding a child, she wrote, “Rest in paradise to one of the smartest humans of our generation. Praying for his family.”

Canesco didn’t stop there. In a separate post, she shared a message that read, “No matter what your beliefs are, you can never be ok with someone being shot because you don’t agree with their views and political beliefs. We have gone into a dangerous path and this can’t be celebrated, tolerated, or allowed from anyone, anywhere, at anytime.”

Instead of sympathy, the comments on Canseco’s post poured in with hostility. Fans called her “delusional” and “not very bright.”

One Reddit user scoffed per the Daily Mail, “Rocks for brains.” Another blasted her, saying, “Calling him smart or a hero is absolutely delusional, he was just a conservative influencer that had a hateful rhetoric.”

Others went further, declaring they were unfollowing her accounts entirely.

One wrote, “I am getting such a good view of who to immediately unfollow. Just unfollowed a channel on YouTube over his Charlie Kirk tribute.”

Another summed up the mood, writing, “This is dead-ss gross.”

Josie Canseco wasn’t the only public figure caught up in controversy following Charlie Kirk’s death.

HGTV’s Erin Napier, known for her hit renovation series with husband Ben, also weighed in.

In a blunt message on her Instagram Stories, she wrote, “Only the demonized celebrate death.”

Her words sparked another online firestorm, prompting Napier to follow up with a scathing rebuke of those attacking her in private messages.

“I am revolted by some of the comments in my DMs. Unfollow me immediately if you’re one of those comments. Christ, have mercy on us all.”

While Josie Canseco’s posts were stirring online backlash, shocking details about Kirk’s murder were coming to light.

FBI director Kash Patel confirmed investigators had found evidence of a disturbing note.

According to Patel, Robinson had declared his intentions before the assassination.

“I have the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and I’m going to take it,” the note allegedly read.

Patel explained, “The note was written before the shooting; it was in the suspect’s partner’s home. We have since learned the note, even though it was destroyed, we have found forensic evidence of the note, and we have confirmed what the note said because our aggressive interview posture at the FBI.”

Authorities have not clarified whether the note was physical or digital, but its existence underlined that Kirk’s killing was premeditated.

Robinson now faces the possibility of the death penalty if convicted.
