Kate Middleton is reportedly still “struggling” emotionally and physically despite being in remission after her cancer battle.

The Princess of Wales is said to have stepped back from royal duties this summer with her husband, Prince William‘s, full support.

This comes after it was revealed that Kate Middleton and Prince William are preparing for a fresh start at Forest Lodge in Windsor Great Park after difficult years at Adelaide Cottage.

According to a Radar Online report, the royal family’s summer retreat has been a much-needed pause for Kate, who continues to face lingering effects from her cancer battle.

Though the Princess of Wales announced eight months ago that her illness was in remission, insiders say the 43-year-old is still working through both physical and emotional hurdles behind the scenes. While she has put on a strong face at public engagements, life at home tells a different story.

“Behind closed doors, she’s still struggling emotionally and tires a lot more easily; it’s taking longer to readjust to royal life after her cancer treatment,” a palace source shared.

Prince William, also 43, has reportedly been keeping a close eye on his wife, ensuring she gets the downtime she needs before their children, Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7, head back to school in September.

“She’s still not back to where she was before her diagnosis, and she’s not sure she ever will be, which is why she’s told William she needs a decent break before term starts in September. She’s unofficially stepped back from royal duties this summer – and of course, William is wholly supportive,” the insider explained.

Despite these challenges, Kate has been easing back into public life at a measured pace following her health struggles.

She delighted royal watchers with her radiant return at Trooping the Colour in June and later made waves by attending both the men’s and women’s finals at Wimbledon in July.

According to insiders, the lighter summer schedule has been part of a deliberate plan by Kate and William “to gradually ease her back into working life.”

Notably, Kate lent her voice, but not her presence, to a polished short film titled “Mother Nature: Summer,” which showcased people embracing the outdoors under the glow of summer sunshine.

“So open your hearts: sing, dance, play. The days are still long, so simply love and be loved,” Kate said warmly over sweeping images of lush landscapes.

Sharing the clip on August 13, the Princess of Wales added a heartfelt caption: “Our lives flourish when we cherish the bonds of love and friendship. It has never been more important to appreciate the value of one another and of Mother Nature. Here’s to Summer. C.”

Meanwhile, William and Kate are preparing for a new chapter as they move their family into a “forever home” designed to bring stability and happy memories after three difficult years.

The couple has chosen Forest Lodge, an eight-bedroom residence tucked away in Windsor Great Park, as the place where they and their children plan to settle for the long term, even after William becomes King.

According to insiders who spoke to The Sun, the move marks a new beginning following a challenging period at Adelaide Cottage, where the family endured the loss of Queen Elizabeth II and the shock of cancer diagnoses for both King Charles and Kate.

Forest Lodge offers exactly what the Waleses need: space, privacy, and a sense of home that is far removed from the formality of Buckingham Palace or Windsor Castle.

It is worth noting that William and Kate are covering the cost of the move and renovations themselves. They will also forgo live-in staff, opting for a more down-to-earth household.

The Wales family’s new residence, Forest Lodge, offers spectacular views, so much so that William will even be able to see the Wembley Arch from his bedroom window.

Kate has already been spotted selecting new furniture for the home, including a 24-seater table to help furnish the grand space.

A source close to the couple told the news outlet, “Windsor has become their home. However, over the last few years, while they have lived at Adelaide Cottage, there have been some really difficult times.”

The source added: “Moving gives them an opportunity for a fresh start and a new chapter; an opportunity to leave some of the more unhappy memories behind. This is a move for the long-term. They see it as their forever home.”
