Travis Kelce‘s ex-girlfriend, Kayla Nicole, has broken her silence after past controversial tweets from her X (formerly Twitter) account resurfaced.

Nicole, a social media and fitness influencer, sparked much attention last month after social media users insisted the 34-year-old took a swipe at Taylor Swift when she shared a clip of Toni Braxton’s popular 2000s song, “He Wasn’t Man Enough.”

Since then, a flood of Kayla Nicole’s previous posts has come to light, sparking outrage and unexpected support.

In a lengthy statement shared to her Instagram Stories, Nicole, 34, acknowledged her tweets, which contained “ignorant, hurtful and completely wrong” language and expressed disappointment in herself for ever sharing such problematic posts.

“I want to take a moment to sincerely apologize for the hurtful tweets I posted so many years ago,” she wrote. “Seeing them resurface last week has been incredibly difficult, and reading them now, I’m ashamed that I ever thought or spoke that way. They were ignorant, hurtful and completely wrong.”

Nicole’s previous tweets, which were shared in a social media thread, specifically mentioned race, homophobic slurs, and more.

In one, she called someone a “dumb fat Mexican h-e,” while in another, she mocked Asian people’s accents, calling it a “#convokiller.”

Another resurfaced post of Nicole’s showed the Pepperdine University graduate sharing seemingly disparaging views about an Asian woman’s religious practices, writing, “5 mo minutes imma let her know that buddah isn’t real.”

“The woman I am today would never use those words or express those kinds of views. Over the years, I’ve seen firsthand how cruel and harmful online hate can be, and I would never want to add to that world of pain in any form. I have since deleted those tweets and my X account entirely, because I refuse to keep that energy alive or contribute to a cycle of hate,” Nicole added in her recent social media apology.

For those unfamiliar, Nicole, who boasts nearly 1 million followers on Instagram and hosts the “Pre-Game with Kayla Nicole” podcast, rose to fame after making headlines for her on-again, off-again relationship with Kansas City Chiefs star Kelce.

As she wrapped up her statement, Nicole said she was taking “full responsibility” for her previous posts and apologized for any harm she may have caused. “My heart, values, and perspective are completely rooted in empathy, love, and respect for others. I can’t change the past, but I will continue showing through my actions who I’ve become and what I stand for today,” she wrote.

Online, Nicole, who also starred in season 3 of Fox’s “Special Forces,” found unexpected support from some users who agreed that her posts from 2010-2014 shouldn’t be used against her, with one saying those years online “was a WILD time.”

“Don’t ever make me famous yall!!!!! I was vicious between 2010-2015,” another user wrote.

Other users insisted Nicole shouldn’t have apologized at all, considering the posts were from a different time in her life.

“Ain’t no way I’m apologizing for posting immature things when I was immature lol. Like seriously how old was she in 2010?” someone commented, leading another to call the world “soft” for “bringing up stuff from 15 years ago.”

Nicole’s Halloween Costume Goes Viral After Hitting Too Close To Home

Before her previous tweets resurfaced on various social media threads, Nicole was in the headlines for a totally different reason: her Halloween costume.

As seen on social media and covered by The Blast, Nicole dressed as Grammy Award-winning singer Toni Braxton just last month, replicating the look from her Y2K hit single “He Wasn’t Man Enough.”

Nicole also shared a professional video of herself dancing to Braxton’s song, mouthing the lyrics, “What are you thinking? / Do you know about us back then? / Did you know I dumped your husband, girlfriend? / I’m not thinking ’bout him.”

And it didn’t stop there, the song went on, “But you married him / Did you know I made him leave? / Do you know he begged to stay with me? / He wasn’t man enough for me.”

Did Taylor Swift Write About Nicole In Her Last Album?

While Nicole didn’t mention any names, many assumed her Braxton-inspired Halloween costume was a clear jab at Swift, who, a month before, fans speculated wrote a line about the podcaster in the song “Opalite” from her album “The Life Of A Showgirl.”

Nicole wasted no time shutting down the rumors, however, explaining to her listeners that she’s “not in the business of tearing women down.”

According to Nicole, she decided to pay homage to Braxton days before Halloween after being reminded of how much she loved the R&B track as a child. Nicole also shared another personal anecdote from her younger years that cemented her love for the song.

She added, “I specifically remember driving home from private school in my little uniform in the back of a paddy wagon with [my best friend] Taylor, and her mom was playing this song. [Singing] at the top of her lungs. It was just that ah-ha moment, like wow, white people listen to Black people music as well.”
