The preteen surprised fans by posting close-up photos of her hand, showing multiple jewelry pieces, including two dermal piercings.

In images shared, one finger featured two silver studs, while another displayed a blue gem on her middle finger. North first debuted the silver piercing during a trip to Rome with her mother in August.

Unlike traditional piercings, dermal or surface piercings use a small anchor inserted beneath the skin to hold the jewelry in place.

Another image appeared to show the piercing procedure, with a rod going through North’s finger.

Experts warn that piercings on the hands carry a “high risk” due to bacteria, frequent movement, and friction, which can increase the chances of infection or rejection.

However, it remains unclear where North had the piercings done or whether Kardashian or her ex-husband, Kanye West, gave permission.

Some speculate the procedure may have been performed abroad, as most U.S. studios would not pierce a minor with dermal implants.

The photos quickly went viral, sparking debate online, particularly on Reddit and Twitter, over whether North’s parents should have allowed the procedure.

Critics argued that permitting such piercings prioritizes friendship over responsible parenting.

“I couldn’t imagine giving my 12-year-old permission to have dermal and surface piercings like this, especially with the complications that come with them,” one wrote, per the Daily Mail.

Another noted, “That is the worst place to get a piercing. The hands get the dirtiest out of any body part. Keeping it clean so she doesn’t get an infection is going to be challenging for North. She could wear gloves to keep it cleaner.”

Others said “a 12-year-old is not mature enough to care for this piercing responsibly,” suggesting Kardashian might be indulging North’s desires too much.

On the “Call Me Daddy” podcast, the 44-year-old reality star explained that she is “still learning” as a parent, noting that North often experiments with her style based on what her friends are wearing.

“It’s really hard and it’s really interesting because all the kids are wearing the same things,” Kardashian said. “But then my daughter tries to wear it, and then I’m like, ‘OK, we’re never wearing that again.’ Unfortunately, we made that mistake in front of the whole world.”

The SKIMS founder added that North, who usually dresses like a tomboy, is simply exploring new looks and learning from her experiences.

“But what I do know is my baby’s such a good girl and such a sweet girl,” Kardashian said. “She does listen to me, but in other areas, I’m like, ‘Babe, if you want blue hair, it is what it is.’ It makes her so happy. I would never take that creativity away from her.”
