King George III and President Trump: ‘A history of repeated injuries and usurpations’

IN THE NEWS: Two-and a-half centuries ago, the troops of King George III occupied Boston aiming to squelch an incipient rebellion of American colonists. Today, troops sent by President Donald Trump are occupying Los Angeles to punish LA for resisting the administration’s sweeping, arbitrary and inhumane roundup of undocumented residents of the city.

So far, this show of force has been both farcical and fear-inducing. It can only be hoped that the autocratically inclined president is no more successful in his draconian policy than was the long-gone British king.
