Kody Brown Revealed Almost Missing Oldest Son’s Wedding

The drama within the Brown family nearly cost Kody Brown the opportunity to watch his oldest child get married.

The “Sister Wives” star confessed that he considered skipping his son Logan Brown’s wedding in 2022, given the domino effect caused by his former wife Christine. The latter was the first out of the four wives to leave the patriarch.

Following her departure, Kody’s relationship with Logan’s mom, Janelle, soured, and Meri joined the ex-wife train. Robyn Brown is the patriarch’s only remaining wife and the alleged cause of the family’s problems.

Kody addressed the family’s rocky relationship during the Sunday, September 29, episode of the TLC series. He shared that he contemplated attending his eldest son Logan’s wedding to Michelle Petty in October 2022 because of the bad blood within the Brown clan.

Although Kody and the rest of the cast did not mention that it was Logan’s wedding they were talking about, the timing of season 19’s filming correlated with the 2022 event. Additionally, Janelle wore the same plum-colored dress from her son’s nuptials in Sunday’s episode.

While addressing his thoughts about skipping the event, Kody confessed, “I don’t want to be there with people looking at me but not talking to me. I spoke with the bride and groom at one point. I said, ‘I think maybe I better not come.'”

“The reason I suggested I shouldn’t go is just all the hate that I’m getting from family members. Mostly just all the talk from Christine and Janelle,” Kody noted, per In Touch. He and his only remaining wife, Robyn, attended the wedding despite his reservations.

During his recollection, Kody shared that he and Robyn were seated separately from his exes Christine and Janelle, saying: “Robyn and I were put over kind of in a corner, probably for our safety. It was just in the back.”

The patriarch implied his former wives flaunted their happiness in his face during the event, recalling: “I saw Christine there as well, but I didn’t talk to her. I did feel like some people were trying to look like they were having more fun than me.”

“This is how childish this whole divorce has been,” Kody added. Meanwhile, Janelle confessed that it was “just so weird” to avoid her ex-husband “after 30 years [of marriage].” Meri echoed similar sentiments, saying:

“Being at the wedding was a little bit awkward just because there are some people in the family that don’t really want to interact with me. I’m kind of in the middle of this breakup; it’s just kind of weird.”

The strained relationship in the Brown family became evident when Christine announced her separation from Kody in November 2021. “After more than 25 years together, Kody and I have grown apart, and I have made the difficult decision to leave,” she confessed.

Her departure sparked a ripple effect that saw Janelle ending her marriage to Kody in 2022. At the time, an insider claimed she had outgrown her husband, saying, “Janelle is a strong independent woman and realized she can do it on her own.”

The ex-wife trend continued, with Meri and Kody confirming their split in a joint statement in January 2023. Part of their message read: “After more than a decade of working on our relationship in our own unique ways, we have made the decisionto permanently terminate our marriage relationship.”

The Blast recently reported that Janelle reflected on Kody’s estrangement from their children. The former couple welcomed six children: Logan, Madison, Hunter, Gabriel, Savanah, and their late son Garrison.

Janelle claimed the family started falling apart after Robyn created tensions in an attempt to have Kody all to herself. She argued that her actions negatively impacted the patriarch’s relationship with her kids, saying:

“My kids were always like, from the very beginning- they knew that their dad was not going to always be there. I always felt, like, that Kody and Robyn mismanaged the situation with her children.”

Janelle’s claims continued, with allegations about Kody and Robyn’s poor parenting skills. She believed her ex-husband gave his only remaining wife and her kids preferential treatment.

The mother of six alleged that the patriarch stopped being present in her oldest children’s lives once he married Robyn in 2014. He also scolded her kids if they touched Robyn’s fridge.

As for his relationship with Robyn’s children, Janelle claimed Kody treated his wife’s youngest daughter, Ari, differently. She noted the little girl got sad whenever the patriarch was “away for more than three or four days.”
