Kyle Busch won’t race in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series or NASCAR Cup Series races at Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend after being hospitalized with illness.
“Kyle has experienced a severe illness resulting in hospitalization,” a statement posted to Busch’s X account read. “He is currently undergoing treatment and will not compete in any of his scheduled activities this weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway. We ask for understanding and privacy as our family navigates this situation.”
Busch was scheduled to drive the No. 7 Chevrolet for Spire Motorsports in Friday’s Truck Race and the No. 8 Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing, the latter of which is his full-time ride in the Cup Series.
Austin Hill, who drives for RCR in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, will step in and drive the No. 8 RCR Chevy in Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600.
