San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan suffered significant injuries in an offseason car crash that will limit his activity at the start of training camp.
The 49ers revealed Saturday that Shanahan suffered “non-life-threatening injuries” in a car crash last week.
He will take part in camp on a limited basis as he recovers from those injuries, with assistant head coach Chris Foerster taking on a larger role until he is healed.
“San Francisco 49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan was involved in a car accident last week where he suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Coach Shanahan will participate in team activities on a limited basis at the start of training camp while he recovers. Coach Shanahan and the 49ers organization would like to sincerely thank all first responders involved for their efforts and care,” the 49ers wrote in a statement.
