Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass faced significant criticism and embarrassment following her handling of a press conference discussing the wildfires currently engulfing her city.

Bass, who is in her first term as mayor, was initially ripped by critics for being absent during the crisis and then returning from a trip to Ghana using a military plane.

At the press conference, however, the wheels fell off. A woman once considered a vice presidential candidate for Joe Biden was exposed as an incompetent charlatan.

Bass struggled with reading from a prepared script, mispronounced words like “heroism,” and awkwardly handled providing a website link by spelling out the letters “U R L” instead of giving the actual web address.

“Right now, if you need help – emergency information, resources, and shelter is available. All of this can be found at U R L,” she confidently declared.

    Karen Bass Is An Embarrassment

For those of our readers who live or have family members in the area, here is the website you need to go to that Karen Bass wholly flubbed.

Politico once described this woman as a rising “sleeper pick” to be Biden’s pick over Kamala Harris. Instead, she ended up being mayor of Los Angeles.

She’s directly responsible in part for the tragedy befalling the city. Last year, Bass slashed the fire department’s budget and prioritized funding for the city’s homeless population.

The homeless budget in 2023 exceeded $1.3 billion. The LAFD’s budget was reduced by over $17 million.

Prior to this disastrous press conference, Bass took what ultimately proved to be the better tactic – refusing to answer questions from reporters about her absence when the disaster first began and the city’s lack of preparedness.

    Old Tweet Resurfaces

In addition to all of this, Karen Bass was humiliated when an old post on X resurfaced showing her criticizing Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) for not being in town during a crisis.

“Ted Cruz fleeing Texas in the middle of a deadly crisis is part of a larger pattern of the GOP abandoning folks in crisis,” Bass wrote at the time.

“We need to build a movement to kick them all out.”

Cruz, who had gone on vacation with his daughters to Cancun during a major ice storm, was not a state or local official at the time. The optics weren’t great, but he had no direct role in responding to the situation.

Karen Bass is the mayor of Los Angeles. Nobody is more directly responsible for aiding the community during this tragedy.

Her resignation should already be signed, sealed, and delivered.
