I am a retired state legislator. Started in 1982; retired in 2010. My first budget was $10 million; the state population was 4 million.
In 2026 the state budget is $80.2 million and the population is more than 8 million. We still have the same number legislative days.
I wish our leaders would look under their legislative hood and do some tinkering “if needed.”
