Lisa Rinna Reveals Daughter Nearly Died From Infected Nipple Piercing

Lisa Rinnais speaking out about a frightening medical crisis involving her daughter, Amelia Hamlin. On a recent episode of her “Let’s Not Talk About the Husband” podcast with husband Harry Hamlin, the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” alum shared that Amelia once developed a life-threatening infection linked to a nipple piercing. Lisa Rinna described the ordeal as “very dangerous” and said the incident became a wake-up call for the entire family.

According to Rinna, the ordeal began when Amelia was just 19 and attending Coachella. She recalled her daughter standing on a balcony when someone pushed her, causing her chest to slam into a bush. The freak accident drove the piercing into her breast tissue.

“She was, like, up on a balcony. Somebody pushed her, kind of, like, pushing forward, and her boob went into, like, a bush, and it jammed the nipple into the boob,” Rinna explained on the podcast. Later that night, Amelia developed a high fever and noticed her breast had swollen alarmingly.

Rinna said she rushed her daughter to the hospital around 2 a.m., fearing she had injured her ribs. Doctors performed X-rays and further examinations, but Amelia’s condition continued to worsen. Her breast swelled even more, leading the family to seek answers from an infectious disease specialist.

The specialist ultimately diagnosed Amelia with sepsis, a dangerous complication that happens when the body’s response to infection begins damaging its own organs. According to Mayo Clinic, the condition can quickly turn fatal without prompt treatment. When Harry asked his wife in disbelief, “From the nipple ring?” she clarified, “From whatever it punctured. She punctured something when she went into the bush.”

Rinna explained that Amelia required IV antibiotics for a week in order to recover, calling the experience one of the scariest moments of her life. “She had to be on IV antibiotics for a week. It was actually very dangerous, guys. It was dangerous,” Rinna stressed. The “Mad Men” alum admitted he could barely stomach the details, saying, “I don’t wanna hear anymore.”

The frightening ordeal didn’t just impact Amelia. Rinna revealed that her older daughter, Delilah Hamlin, decided to remove her own nipple piercing after witnessing her sister’s health battle. “Nobody wanted to die ’cause they had a freaking nipple ring,” Rinna quipped.

The reality star framed the story as a “cautionary tale” for others, hoping Amelia’s near-death experience serves as a warning about how quickly something as simple as body jewelry can spiral into a medical emergency.

Rinna may have stepped away from “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” after Season 12, but she hasn’t stopped reflecting on the moments that made her time on the show unforgettable. On her “Let’s Not Talk About the Husband” podcast a few weeks ago, the former “Housewife” recently revisited one of the franchise’s most notorious scenes: the Season 5 dinner in Amsterdam.

Rinna recalled how fellow cast member Kim Richards once told her that the explosive confrontation, which ended with Rinna smashing a wine glass, was allegedly fueled by production. “She has since come to me and said, ‘I was produced to do that,’” Rinna said. “Whether that’s true or not … that’s how she dealt with it when we made up in a sense.”
