Marine Corps Billboard Defaced By Pro-Illegal Group

The Marines have been defaced and vandalized in Memphis, Tennessee. Someone posted an offensive message on a recruitment billboard in downtown the other day.

The billboard featured a photo of a Marine with the question: “What do Marines Fight For?”

Someone plastered the sign with a response: “The chance to feed Mexicans to alligators.” A local television station suggested the vandalism had been committed by a pro-illegal alien group.

The message is a reference to the Florida immigration detention center named “Alligator Alcatraz.”

“I think it’s pretty crass and derogatory towards the Marines,” motorist Jim Kinney told television station WMC. “The US military is here for us and our protection, not for vulgarity.”

Just saw this billboard yesterday. I don’t think they understand that the vandalization will probably increase recruitment for anyone considering being a marine 😂 pic.twitter.com/M5gnOat2Jg

The Marine Corps issued a statement to the television station saying the vandalism was unfortunate but they are always ready to adapt and overcome.

Though unfortunate, Marines are always ready to adapt and overcome. We seek to attract and inspire the next generation to answer the call to serve. For questions regarding this crime, please contact the local police department.

The problem is that some Memphians literally thought the Marines were hiring Americans to feed Mexicans to alligators.

One man saying that he was especially disturbed because many Marines are of Mexican heritage.

For the record, Marines are not feeding illegals to alligators in south Florida – or anywhere else for that matter. But the rumor is that some gators do have a fondness for salsa.
