There is some excitement around the Pitt football program this season, and one of the biggest reasons for it is the return of true sophomore quarterback Mason Heintschel. He showed why he is raising expectations for the program on Saturday by setting an ACC record in a 59-14 win over Miami (Ohio).
Pitt QB Mason Heintschel sets ACC record with seven touchdown passes
Heintschel opened the season by completing 31 of 41 passes for 453 yards and seven touchdowns. The seven touchdowns not only tied a Pitt school record (with Pete Gonzalez), but also set an ACC record for most touchdown passes in a game involving an ACC team (Gonzalez set the Pitt record when the program was in the Big East).
What makes the seven touchdowns even more impressive is that he did it in just a little more than three quarters, and completed them to seven different players.
He also did not throw a single interception in the game and had what could have been an eighth touchdown pass dropped just before halftime.
Here is a look at all seven of his touchdowns.
