Mia Thornton recently shared her opinion on her “Real Housewives of Potomac” co-star’s guilty verdict.

After spending much of Season 9 teasing what would come of her criminal charges relating to her DUI case in March 2024, a jury found Karen Huger guilty of several offenses on December 19. The decision was unexpected, ultimately leading Karen to skip the upcoming reunion special to enter rehab.

On an episode of “Watch What Happens Live,” Mia Thornton shared her thoughts on Karen’s recent legal troubles and she didn’t seem surprised.

Mia Thornton Speaks On Karen Huger’s Guilty Verdict

While appearing on “WWHL” with Andy Cohen to promote Potomac’s explosive episode, Thornton spoke candidly about her co-star’s recent troubles.

After her single-vehicle collision in early 2024, Huger was hit with several charges, including DUI, DWI, and reckless driving.

Throughout Season 9, which is currently airing on Bravo, the reality star has maintained her innocence, suggesting she would be vindicated after the jury sees the evidence. However, that’s not the way the story ended. The jury found Huger guilty on all counts except reckless driving.

While speaking to Andy, Thornton suggested she wasn’t shocked by the news.

“Listen, I always knew she was guilty,” said Thornton. “I’m sorry, I did.”

She continued, saying that if Huger, known for holding the other ladies on the show accountable, would’ve owned her role in the case, things would’ve been different for her. “We wouldn’t all know,” Thornton said.

    Karen Huger Skipping ‘RHOP’ Reunion

After a jury found Huger guilty of charges relating to her DUI case, shocking body camera footage of her arrest hit the internet.

In the clips, viewers saw Huger swaying, slurring, and behaving aggressively toward law enforcement. She also made several questionable statements, including describing her nature as “lit.”

Fans hoped she would address her comments during the upcoming “RHOP” reunion; however, she announced her absence from the special on the day of the event.

“Karen made the important decision to enter a private recovery program,” her rep said in a statement. “So [she] was unable to attend the reunion taping today.”

Members of the Bravoverse reacted strongly to the news, flooding social media comments with their thoughts.

“And this is why Karen has NEVER been my fav,” one user wrote. “The refusal to take accountability for anything is no fun.”

Mia Thornton Speaks On Karen’s Rehab Stay

Huger’s vehicle collision has been a hot topic in the latest batch of “RHOP” episodes. Not only has Mia Thornton continued to press the Grande Dame about the issue, but many of her co-stars have chimed in, too. In fact, they’ve been vocal about wanting Karen to seek help.

On Huger’s decision to skip the reunion and enter a recovery program, Mia told Andy that she was “very happy for her.”

“I really am. I want her to get the help that she needs.”

The mother of three went on to say that she’s given Huger a hard time in the past because she wanted her to be open and honest with the rest of the group.

“I actually wanted her to be transparent and tell us what she was going through so we could be there for her.”

Karen Huger Disappointed By Jury’s Decision

Based on comments made during Season 9 of RHOP, Huger clearly expected her criminal case to take a different turn.

During one conversation with Mia in a car, Huger told Thornton that she wouldn’t admit guilt until a decision was made, and that sentiment continued throughout filming.

However, following the jury’s announcement, the Bravo veteran expressed her feelings, saying she was “disappointed” by the judgment.

“Although we are disappointed in the jury’s verdict, we, of course, respect their decision and appreciate their time hearing our case,” Huger’s lawyer, A. Scott Bolden, said in a statement.

Mia Thornton Celebrated Holidays Away From Ex-husband

In addition to her beef with Karen Huger on the “Real Housewives,” Thornton has also showcased her two complicated relationships.

In 2023, the reality star and business owner announced her split from her long-time husband, Gordon Thornton. Later that year, she shared her new partner, Inc, with the world.

Although they no longer live together, Gordon and Mia reside in the same building and have shot scenes together for the show.

Thornton has opened up about creating a harmonious atmosphere for their children as she and Gordon co-parent.

However, things might not be going according to plan.

In November 2024, Mia told her fans that she was spending the holidays alone for the first time. According to her, separating during the festive season would help her family set firm boundaries.

“I think that’s going to be a really good eye-opener for our children as well,” she said.
