Fans at the Ground Zero Blues Club in Clarksdale, Mississippi got a big surprise when actor Morgan Freeman joined Al Green on stage during his performance on New Year’s Eve.

Freeman and Green sang a duet of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member’s 1971 classic, “Let’s Stay Together,” and the crown even joined in to enjoy the fun.

Morgan Freeman is reportedly a co-owner of the blues club.

The Instagram account for the Ground Zero Blues Club shared a video of the Al Green-Morgan Freeman performance on Dec. 31 with the caption, “Morgan Freeman & Al Green LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!”

The video featured Freeman sporting a cream turtleneck sweater with a dark double-breasted jacket on stage singing “Let’s Stay Together” with the legendary Green, who was rocking a green blazer with a black lapel paired with a white button-down shirt.

Green asked the crowd to join in as he and Freeman crooned, “I | I’m so in love with you | Whatever you want to do | Is alright with me | ‘Cause you make me feel so brand new | And I want to spend my life with you.”

Freeman opened the Ground Zero Blues Club back in 2001.

The “Glory” star opened the blues club with partners Eric Meier, Howard Stovall and the late Bill Luckett. Their goal was to open an establishment that celebrated Mississippi’s blues heritage.

In addition to his club, Freeman is still a very busy actor. He is currently starring in two films; the thriller, “Gunner” and the dramedy, “My Dead Friend Zoe.”

He will also be seen in the upcoming film “Now You See Me 3.”

Freeman is also starring in the Paramount + television series “Special Ops: Lioness” with actresses Zoë Saldana and Nicole Kidman.

The action series is another show from “Yellowstone” creator Taylor Sheridan. The show is based on the CIA and features Freeman as United States Secretary of State Edwin Mullins.

The show kicked off its second season in October, and the series is just as popular as Sheridan’s other shows for Paramount. Sheridan told Freeman that he wrote the role with the actor in mind when he approached the star.

“I was cast by him to play the role that he wrote,” said Freeman during an interview with TVInsider. “So it’s almost as if he’s saying to me, ‘I wrote this for you,’ which is flattering in and of itself.”
