The rich may be about to get richer based on some new speculation about a potential trade involving Myles Garrett.
Several anonymous NFL executives told Jason La Canfora of The Washington Post that they believe Garrett will ultimately be traded to the Philadelphia Eagles. The executives believe Philadelphia would be motivated to make a deal due to its lack of edge talent. They also noted that Cleveland Browns GM Andrew Berry previously worked for the Eagles and maintains a good relationship with Philadelphia GM Howie Roseman.
“It’s going to be a win-win,” one AFC general manager anonymously told La Canfora. “They’re going to get two [first-round draft picks] for him, and he’ll get to a winning team.”
The idea of Garrett going to the reigning Super Bowl champions has to be a daunting one for rival teams. The move does make some sense, though. Veteran edge-rusher Brandon Graham has said he plans to retire, while Josh Sweat is set to become a free agent and will likely attract significant interest and a big payday. Another standout defensive lineman, defensive tackle Milton Williams, is also set to hit free agency.
The Eagles do have Jalen Carter locked down for 2025. Bringing in Garrett would ensure that they still have a fearsome pass rush even if they lose some other pieces.
Garrett has demanded the Browns trade him, and hinted that he will go pretty far to ensure he gets his wish. If the Browns give in and move him, he will attract a lot of interest, including perhaps from at least one of Philadelphia’s NFC East rivals.
