Netflix dropped a new video on Instagram Friday to promote the streamer’s new film, “Back in Action” starring Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz. The action flick will begin streaming on Netflix on Jan. 17.

The video features Foxx playing a baby grand piano as he bellowed, “Back in Action,” while Diaz danced along while wearing a fabulous pin-striped, strapless pantsuit.

The post was captioned, “Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx musically reminisce about their friendship. BACK IN ACTION premieres January 17.”

Jamie Foxx And Cameron Diaz Star In ‘Back in Action’ On Netflix

Diaz and Foxx have worked together before and have been friends for 25 years. They first starred together in the 1999 sports flick, “Any Given Sunday” with Al Pacino. The duo also starred together in the remake of “Annie” back in 2014.

“People don’t even realize how long we’ve been friends,” said Foxx. “True. Since we were in ‘Any Given Sunday’ together, which was in 1999,” replied Diaz.

“And now, we’re back in action, baby,” she added.

Foxx began to improvise a song about the Netflix movie and sang, “Back in action, and we’ve been friends, since before Apple started making the iPod, and now they make the iPhone and not the iPod,” he joked.

As Foxx continued to sing about the Netflix movie, he managed to joke about rapper Snoop Dogg and his friendship with lifestyle guru, Martha Stewart. Stewart became good friends with the “Gin and Juice” artist after meeting on her cooking show, “The Martha Stewart Show” back in 2008.

Foxx continued to play the piano as Diaz said, “Tell ’em what else happened, Jamie.” The “Ray” actor sang his reply.

“What else happened was Martha Stewart got super into weed and became best friends with Snooooooooop.” Snoop Dogg is well known for his affection for marijuana, and a puff of smoke appeared before the camera as Diaz noted what else had happened since 1999.

“I made four Shrek movies,” she said. “We also did ‘Annie’ together,” Foxx said as Diaz added, “That’s right.”

“And we lived through so much,” Foxx continued. “We lived through Keyboard Cat, Pizza Rat, NFTs, DVDs, Corn Kid, Bean Dad, Salt Bae, Left Shark, Pink Sauce, Grimace Shake and ‘The Dress.'”

“Oh yeah, which was white and gold,” said Diaz as Foxx hit a high note and sang, “I thought it was black and bluuuuuuue.”

Diaz continued, “And now we’re back together for another movie, and I am just so excited.”

“Yes. Because…, ” Foxx replied before singing, “We’re ‘Back in Actioooon.'”

In April of 2023, Foxx was in Atlanta to film scenes from “Back in Action” when he got a headache. He began to ask a friend for an aspirin before passing out.

Foxx revealed the nature of his health scare in his Netflix special, “Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was…” and said that he’d had a brain bleed that led to a stroke. He was operated on immediately and spent 20 days unconscious. When he woke up, he couldn’t walk.

The Oscar winner recovered at a rehabilitation facility in Chicago and learned how to walk again. He said in his special that comedy helped him heal. “If I can stay funny, I can stay alive.”
