Northwestern University is asking for the public’s help after a professor was reported missing.

School of Communication Professor Nina Kraus, 72, was reported missing by her family on Monday, the university said in a news release.

She was last seen at 9 a.m. on Monday leaving her home on the 1500 block of Ashland Avenue in the Chicago suburb of Evanston, Illinois, to go for a walk, police said. Her home is about a mile away from the university.

Kraus is described as 5 feet 4 inches, 140 pounds, with long silver hair and brown eyes, according to police. She was last seen wearing long pants and a windbreaker.

“The Evanston Police Department is leading the search for Professor Kraus, with Northwestern University Police Department assisting,” the university said.

The university and the police department are urging anyone with information on Kraus’ whereabouts to contact police at 847-866-5000.
