Pamela Anderson and Jamie Lee Curtis recently sat down for an interview with Parade to discuss their new movie, “The Last Showgirl.”

The two women play best friends in the film about a 57-year-old Las Vegas showgirl (played by Anderson) who is coming to terms with the possible end of her career as she ages. Anderson is also a single mother in the film, and the actresses discuss being mothers and juggling careers in the entertainment industry.

“The center of the movie is the story of a single mother who has taken a choice to do her art and the consequences of having that child come back and say, ‘It hurts me that you chose your art over me,'” said Curtis. “Most working mothers in the world will see this movie and identify with that complex issue.”

Anderson shocked Curtis when she revealed that she used to play the saxophone in her junior high school jazz band.

The 66-year-old “Knives Out” star stopped Anderson in the middle of her story about auditioning for “The Naked Gun” reboot after she casually noted her musical ability. The two actresses were talking about lying to get a role.

“My first audition was ‘Naked Gun.’ It just kind of happened,” said Anderson. “So, I didn’t have to lie, you know? Even — even though they did think I was lying because actually I — I used to be in a jazz band and play [the] saxophone.”

“Okay, stop! Everybody just stop,” interrupted Curtis. “Let us just stop for a second. And I’m just going to turn in my chair. Just a little bit. Hold, please. You may now begin to say that again. You played saxophone?”

The “Barb Wire” actress really stunned Curtis when she noted that not only could she play the saxophone, but she could also scat, a style of jazz singing.

“I did all the scat solos,” added Anderson.

“What the f-ck is happening?” exclaimed the “Halloween actress.”

“And so in the movie, in ‘The Naked Gun’ movie, I have to sing,” she continued. “I do a scat solo, and so I remember telling him you know? ‘I, in junior high, did all the scat solos.’ And he was just like, ‘No. Do one now.’ I was like, ‘Scooby doo and dooby doo and doo-dat doo-dat.’  I just started scatting, and I got the part. Woo!”

Curtis could not contain her shock and again exclaimed, “What the f-ck is happening?”

“It was a — a really intense, beautiful kind of confluence of artists and women — predominantly women,” said Curtis. “And, you know, we play best friends, so the immediacy of that, it was in a weird way, the minute we touched, it was like all my life experiences went into her. All her life experiences went into me, and we went ‘oh right’ and then, you know, kept going.”

“Yeah, and we’re in this together,” agreed Anderson.
