Police officers recently detained singer Ray J in Los Angeles on Thursday, March 13, after receiving reports that the “Sexy Can I” singer was involved in an explosive altercation with his estranged wife, Princess Love.
Ray J’s detainment comes over a year after the reality star and his soon-to-be-ex-wife filed for divorce for a fourth time in February 2024.
After police arrived at Ray J’s location with Princess Love, they determined that the 44-year-old had not committed a crime and released him immediately.

Ray J Was Detained In Los Angeles After A Reported Fight With Princess Love
According to sources close to TMZ, Ray J returned to Los Angeles in March 2025 after performing on the Millennium Tour with other R&B singers, including Pleasure P and Sammie.
Reports claim that the pair, who showcased much of their relationship on the VH1 reality show “Love & Hip Hop,” began arguing over their divorce when Ray J allegedly became aggressive and started “yelling” while “possibly under the influence.”
Sources said that police officers detained the “One Wish” singer and held him in the back of a cruiser until they could determine what happened. After learning that he did not commit a crime, they took him out of the vehicle before releasing him from handcuffs.

Princess Love Filed For Divorce From Ray J In February 2024
As The Blast reported in February 2024, Princess Love filed for divorce from Ray J for a fourth time and shared an emotional message about her split with her followers online.
“It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of our decision to divorce,” she wrote. “After much reflection, discussion, and counseling, we have come to the difficult realization that our paths have diverged, and it is in the best interest of both of us to part ways.”
The couple have two children, Melody and Epik, born in 2018 and 2020, respectively.

Ray J Responds To Princess Love’s Divorce Filing
In April 2024, Ray J responded to Princess Love’s filing and requested joint legal and physical custody of their children. Additionally, the performer asked the court to decide on spousal support arrangements at a later date.
Ray J’s attorneys also requested that he and his estranged wife split their assets, including “jewelry” and “personal effects.” However, he didn’t stop there. The “College Hill” star requested that he and Princess Love pay for their own legal fees, too.

On Instagram, fans have started responding to the video of Ray J’s detainment and sharing their thoughts about him and his tumultuous relationship with Princess Love.
Someone wrote, “They need to leave each other alone,” before another user added, “They are BOTH the problem.”
“At this point, leave us out of the group chat,” a third person commented. “They going to keep going back and forth.”
A fourth user agreed and said both celebrities “need therapy and healing” to prevent damaging their children as they grow older.
“They really need to stop,” a fifth netizen opined. “Like full hard stop.” They continued and slammed the parents for creating an unhealthy environment for their family.

Ray J Was In A Heated Argument With Diddy’s Sons
The latest drama surrounding Ray J comes months after the Hollywood singer found himself in the middle of a heated discussion with Sean Diddy Comb‘s three sons, Quincy, Justin, and Christian Combs.
According to reports, the Combs children were upset over comments Ray J made about their father, who’s currently imprisoned while awaiting trial on sex trafficking and racketeering charges, during a previous interview on NewsNation.
The situation reportedly became so rowdy that “Run It!” singer Chris Brown and his manager had to step in to separate the men to stop them from fighting.
Days later, Ray J clarified what occurred between him and the Combs children during an impromptu interview with Nicki Minaj on social media.
“We didn’t have a fight,” Ray J told the “Pink Friday 2” rapper. “We had a big argument right outside the club. This time, I think I got loud and got aggressive. But it was the third time this happened. So, I felt like I needed to stand up for myself.”
By the end of his conversation with Minah, the father of two claimed he had a heartfelt discussion with Diddy’s sons before saying they had officially cleared the air.
