Laura Adlington is proving once again that she won’t be silenced by body shamers.

The “Great British Bake Off” star, who is currently expecting her first child with husband Matt, took to Instagram on Monday to share a series of stunning photos, including a radiant poolside shot in a white floral swimsuit.

Alongside the snap, Laura Adlington shared a powerful message to those who’ve cruelly branded her “fat” in an attempt to tear her down.

Laura Adlington Shuts Down Trolls With Inspiring Message

“It’s always fascinating how quickly people reach for the word ‘fat’ when they want to hurt you, as if it’s the worst thing a person can be,” she wrote alongside the snaps. “If that’s the worst thing you can say about me, maybe I’m doing ok.”

The size 26 body positivity advocate didn’t stop there, shutting down trolls with a message that resonated with thousands of fans. “I’d rather be fat than cruel. Fat than dishonest. Fat than judgmental. Fat than someone who thinks another person’s body is any of their business.”

Adlington Speaks Out On Harmful Before-And-After Culture

Adlington’s candid reflections come just weeks after she stripped down to her underwear to share another raw body positivity message with her followers. Posing in black lingerie, she reminded fans that “Not a ‘before’ photo” is an important mantra, pushing back against the flood of transformation posts that often label bodies like hers as something to “fix.”

“Lately, my feed has been full of ‘before and after’ photos, most of them starting with a body that looks like mine. Or smaller,” she explained. “And I get it. People are allowed to change. To feel proud of themselves. But I wish more people would think about how they speak about their ‘old’ selves. Because a lot of us still live in those bodies. And it hurts.”

For Adlington, who has long been a passionate advocate for self-love, these messages carry even more weight now as she prepares to welcome her first child following a nine-year fertility battle.

Pregnant Laura Adlington Pens Tearful Letter To Unborn Son After Nine-Year Fertility Battle

In June, the baker revealed she and Matt are expecting a baby boy, and last month, she left fans in tears with an emotional letter to her unborn child.

“Dear baby, we’re over halfway. Can you believe it?” she began. “Some days it still doesn’t feel quite real, and if I’m honest I still feel like I’m living in a dream. Like I don’t deserve this. Ever since the day I found out about you, I’ve been waking up at around 4am. I lie there in the dark, imagining what it will feel like to finally hold you.

“I wonder what kind of person you’ll grow into, what your laugh will sound like, what little quirks will make you, you. It’s been a really long journey to get here, one filled with a lot of heartache,” she continued. “And although I’d be lying if I said we weren’t both still waiting for the rug to be pulled from under our feet, we are finally letting ourselves dream a little louder.”

Adlington Reflects On Journey To Motherhood

The touching note continued with Adlington revealing she has been eagerly preparing for her baby’s arrival.

“I’ve been busy making lists of all the things you might need. I can’t wait to get your pram and start putting your nursery together. Tiny steps towards the day you come home.”

She closed on a heartfelt promise: “But more than anything, I just can’t wait to meet you. To hold you. To look into your eyes and finally whisper, ‘You’re here. We did it.’”

Laura Adlington Reveals Heartbreaking Story Behind Baby Outfit Saved Through Nine-Year Fertility Battle

The “Great British Bake Off” star, who first announced her pregnancy in June 2025, revealed she and husband Matt bought a tiny baby outfit during a trip to Tesco nine years ago, long before they knew how difficult their journey to parenthood would be.

“Negative test after negative test. So many tears. So much heartache,” she admitted, recalling the pain of waiting “with empty arms” while friends and family celebrated pregnancies.

Despite the struggles, the outfit stayed with them through three house moves, tucked away as a quiet reminder of hope. “On rare occasions, I’d find it while spring cleaning and would hold it close to my chest, praying one day our baby might wear it,” Laura shared.

Now, expecting a baby boy, the outfit has taken on a new meaning. “Maybe this was always meant to be,” she wrote. “Now, this little outfit isn’t just a symbol of hope. It’s waiting, just like we are, for the little boy who was always meant to fill it.”
