Sandra Bullock has largely stayed out of the public eye since the 2023 death of her longtime partner, Bryan Randall, leaving fans wondering about her absence.

Now, insiders have shared that the movie star hasn’t retired but is focusing on grief, healing, and family, prioritizing her children over her career.

Though Sandra Bullock has remained mostly private since Bryan Randall’s passing, sources say she’s slowly reengaging socially and may be open to dating again.

Bullock has been noticeably absent from public life for more than a year, a disappearance that left fans wondering why one of Hollywood’s most bankable stars had vanished from view.

Aside from a rare photo of her driving in Los Angeles with her son Louis and their poodle Sweetie, her first sighting in 11 months, the Academy Award-winning actress has largely stayed off the grid, skipping red carpets, press events, and even casual public outings.

According to an insider who spoke to the Daily Mail, Bullock hasn’t retired, but she’s living life on very different terms.

“Sandra is not silently retired,” the source said, “but it is going to take something very special for her to get back to work. She has a couple of things in the pipeline, but nothing set in stone.”

The insider added that when she does choose to return, the “Birdbox” star will be ready to open up about what she’s been navigating privately.

“She’ll do all the interviews, talk about everything she has been going through, but she isn’t ready yet… she’ll return in her own time and on her own terms,” they said.

One of the projects potentially waiting for Bullock’s return is a long-discussed thriller that would reunite her with Keanu Reeves, more than two decades after “Speed” cemented them as an iconic screen duo.

She’s also expected to reprise her role in the upcoming “Practical Magic” sequel, scheduled for release next September.

But according to insiders, Bullock’s time away from the spotlight has nothing to do with dwindling opportunities or Hollywood’s infamous “age wall.”

Her retreat, they say, is rooted in something far more personal: grief, recovery, and rebuilding her life after losing Bryan Randall, the photographer she once called “the love of my life.”

Once Bullock adopted her children, Louis and Laila, and built a home with Randall, her priorities shifted entirely.

However, his death, after a quiet battle with ALS, devastated her. “It hit her like a Mack truck,” the source shared.

They continued, “A broken heart is something that everyone takes differently, and for Sandra, the past few years have been very trying. Right now, there are some struggles she is still trying to get through, but her kids are really a force for her and getting her through the hard times.”

Bullock and Randall spent eight years together before his death at 57, following a private three-year struggle with ALS, a diagnosis the couple chose to keep within a tight circle.

Throughout their relationship, she often spoke about how deeply he influenced her children, calling him “the love of my life” and describing him as a steady moral anchor for their blended family.

Even by 2021, when she was already aware of his diagnosis, she spoke openly about loyalty, partnership, their differences in faith and worldview, sharing: “I don’t always agree with him, and he doesn’t always agree with me. But he is an example even when I don’t agree with him. “

She often urged people to place parenting at the center of their decisions, whether or not a couple stays together: “Would you both be great parents to those children even if you didn’t make it as a couple? Think about the children first,” she said.

After Randall passed, Bullock’s sister, Gesine, publicly praised the actress for the care she provided during his decline, noting that she had assembled a devoted team of nurses to help support him at home.
