Sarah Ferguson Praises Kate Middleton’s Cancer Recovery Video

Sarah Ferguson recently praised King Charles and the Princess of Wales for their openness about their cancer battles during an interview at New York Climate Week.

The Duchess of York, who has faced breast cancer and melanoma, commended their bravery, especially Kate’s emotional video discussing her recovery post-chemotherapy.

Sarah Ferguson also admires King Charles’ public appearance amid his cancer treatment, noting how “brave” and “courageous” the monarch is for carrying on with his duties.

In a conversation with People Magazine, Sarah commended King Charles and the Princess of Wales for openly sharing their experiences with cancer while attending the launch of the Youth Council at New York Climate Week alongside her daughter, Princess Beatrice.

The Duchess of York, 64, who had a single mastectomy for breast cancer in 2023 and was later diagnosed with malignant melanoma in 2024, praised their transparency.

Sarah expressed her admiration for Charles and Kate, highlighting how “they are an example to all families going through their own journeys of health.”

She specifically mentioned a heartfelt video where Kate discussed completing chemotherapy, saying, “I love how the Princess reassured everyone, saying, I’m always there for you. I love that video. It was a beautiful video with beautiful words.”

Sarah also reflected on Charles’ visit to the Macmillan Cancer Centre at University College Hospital in London this past April, which marked his first public appearance after revealing his cancer diagnosis.

“That was very brave too, very courageous,” she said, adding, “[he] spoke openly, which was very important to help people and give hope.”

After news broke of Sarah’s skin cancer diagnosis, King Charles reportedly sent a letter to her expressing his good wishes and support as she received treatment.

Sarah returned the heartfelt treatment after news broke to the public of the King’s cancer diagnosis.

At the time, a source revealed to the Daily Mail that the two royals had supported each other with heartfelt letters, which strengthened their bond.

The source said, “The King and Sarah are incredibly fond of one another, and now they have bonded over their respective cancer diagnosis with an exchange of letters.”

They added, “Cancer is a wicked disease that affects so many individuals and their families, and it’s clear that extra support from loved ones and the extended cancer community can help immeasurably.”

Last week, Sarah and her daughter Beatrice participated in a “truly inspiring” panel on climate solidarity in the Commonwealth during New York’s annual climate event.

Both were seen at various events throughout the week, which focused on environmental advocacy and initiatives.

The Duchess of York, an author and member of the royal family, attended the Global Citizen NOW: Health and Climate Financing Sessions and discussed the pressing need for action at Guastavino’s.

Later, Beatrice joined her for the Youth Impact Council Launch in Manhattan. Sarah took to Instagram to express her excitement over the “fantastic second day” at New York Climate Week.

In the video, the Princess of Wales opened up about her “renewed sense of hope and appreciation for life” after completing chemotherapy amid a challenging health journey this year.

The footage featured Kate celebrating her recovery with Prince William and their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

While Kate’s message was one of hope and triumph, she also emphasized that her new priority is “staying cancer-free,” acknowledging the past nine months as a “scary and unpredictable” period for her family.

In her video, Kate shared how the experience reminded her and William to “reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted. Of simply loving and being loved.”

At the time of the video’s release, a palace insider highlighted that while Kate is eager to participate in a “handful” number of public engagements in the coming months, her main priority is staying “cancer-free” and continuing her long recovery journey.

According to the Daily Mail, a source revealed that her upcoming schedule will be “light,” including events like Remembrance Sunday, but she won’t join William at the Earthshot Prize awards in Cape Town this November.

Kate will focus on supporting her family and working from home on projects like her early childhood initiative.

The insider added that the family is “immensely grateful for the kind and thoughtful wishes they have received over the past nine months” and the media’s respect for their privacy during this time.
