We’re beginning to question the Southeastern Conference’s sincerity.
A week ago, the conference clutched its pearls over a halftime quip from LSU Tigers coach Lane Kiffin amid a since-resolved player eligibility dispute. It’s telling that conference commissioner Greg Sankey hasn’t kept the same energy for the Texas Longhorns.
“Imagine if we had pro players,” Kiffin told ESPN reporter Holly Rowe during a 51-10 Week 1 demolition of Clemson following an SEC ruling deeming two players, Dae’Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris, ineligible after previously signing professional contracts.
A sanctimonious SEC was appalled, citing it in an amended lawsuit on Sept. 8, granting it the authority to expel LSU from its ranks.
