Gomez shared with Rolling Stone how much a psychosis episode affected her in 2018 and revealed she had to “relearn certain words” while on a detox for medication.
The Rare Beauty founder revealed to the publication, “It was just that I was gone. There was no part of me that was there anymore,” Gomez explained.

“It took a lot of hard work for me to (a) accept that I was bipolar, but (b) learn how to deal with it because it wasn’t going to go away,” she went on to tell Rolling Stone.
The former “Wizards of Waverly Place” star’s friends were affected by the diagnosis as well. The singer revealed it was sometimes difficult for her to remember her location while in conversation with her pals.
“I would forget where I was while we were talking,” Gomez also revealed. She also disclosed she can only “remember snippets” of this particular period in her life.

The “Single Soon” actress took time off for treatment in a Connecticut treatment center after her diagnosis. According to Page Six, Gomez’s treatment plan catered to those who lived “always on” types of lifestyles.

Four years after her conversation with Cyrus wherein Gomez revealed her bipolar diagnosis, she is continuing to be open about mental health.
Last night at the second annual Rare Impact Fund Event, the “Monte Carlo” actress used part of her speech to share how she preserves her mental health these days.
Speaking to PEOPLE, Gomez pointed at isolation as a notable factor to watch. “Try not to isolate,” she told the publication. She added, “I think it’s important to have moments alone, but when you isolate, sometimes those feelings can just stay bottled up.”

“Find one person to trust and tell your heart to,” the Disney alumna said. Trustworthiness is also a defining factor in figuring out the best and most appropriate confidant in their situation. Gomez stressed the importance of being able to “actually trust them with that information” once a confidant is secured.

Gomez was recently seen exiting Nobu Fifty-Seven in Manhattan’s Plaza district. A homeless man inquired if the singer could give him some money after she took a minute to sign autographs for fans.
After acquiring a $20 bill from her bodyguard, the singer told the homeless man to “have a good meal,” and quietly left.
