Shane van Gisbergen wins pole for NASCAR Cup Series race in Chicago

After pacing Xfinity Series practice and winning the pole for Saturday’s Xfinity Series race at the Chicago Street Course, Shane van Gisbergen kept the good times rolling by winning the pole for Sunday’s Grant Park 165.

Van Gisbergen was the only driver to break into the 89-second bracket with a lap of 89.656 seconds.

It’s the first time a driver has swept the pole position for Xfinity and Cup Series races on the same weekend since van Gisbergen did so at the Charlotte Roval in October 2024.

“That was epic,” van Gisbergen told truTV. “I’ve got some great cars today. Looking forward to the race tomorrow.”
