‘SNL’ Cleverly Shades Morgan Wallen One Week After Abrupt Exit

The country singer, who stirred buzz last weekend for abruptly walking off the “SNL” stage after his performance, became the subject of multiple jokes during the show’s most recent episode.

In the “Trump Tariff Cold Open,” James Austin Johnson’s Donald Trump riffed on global tariffs, somehow landing a punchline that looped in Morgan Wallen.

The “SNL” sketch didn’t waste time getting to the heart of the joke.

“I even put tariffs on an island uninhabited by humans. It’s called Heard and McDonald Island,” Johnson quipped. “McDonald Island. I would love to visit there. Can you imagine that? Big Mac and a hula skirt. Get me to God’s country, right? Remember that?”

The reference was anything but subtle. Wallen posted a now-viral Instagram Story featuring a photo of his private jet with the caption, “Get me to God’s country,” a phrase he’s since turned into a merch line of shirts and trucker hats, now selling for $45 a piece.

But, the roast didn’t stop there.

Colin Jost Roasts Wallen In Brutal Wall Street Joke On ‘Weekend Update’

During “Weekend Update,” Colin Jost added his own jab while covering Wall Street’s financial nosedive.

“This was the worst week for the stock market since the summer of 2020. But you have to remember, back then, the president was also Trump,” he said. “Just in the past two days, investors have lost over $6 trillion. Money is leaving the stock market faster than Morgan Wallen at Goodnight’s.”

After host Mikey Madison thanked him for being the musical guest, Wallen gave her a quick one-armed hug and walked off-stage, breaking the long-running tradition of the cast mingling during the credits.

He also reportedly skipped the after-party.

However, Morgan Wallen’s latest “Saturday Night Live” appearance continues to make headlines, not just for his early exit from the stage but also for what happened behind the scenes.

The country star reportedly declined to participate in a comedy sketch during the episode, a decision that prompted Joe Jonas to step in at the last minute, a source told Page Six.

“[Morgan] was asked but declined, so they got Joe instead,” the insider shared.

According to the source, Wallen was “not super friendly” on set. “They had hopes he would do the pre-tape and perhaps more, but no joy,” the insider added. Wallen fulfilled his duties as musical guest, performing two songs, but that was the full extent of his participation.

“He did the same thing for dress [rehearsal], i.e. walking off; he was done,” the source explained.

It’s not the first time the country music singer’s presence on the show has stirred drama.

The country star was previously pulled from a 2020 “SNL” appearance after violating COVID-19 protocols, only to later be invited back in a sketch poking fun at the ordeal.

Whether he’ll return to Studio 8H again remains to be seen, but for now, it looks like “SNL” is just fine with sending him off to “God’s country.”
