Solange Knowles is the latest celebrity to honor Hayden Panettiere following her sudden death on August 16, 2026. In her post, Knowles wished Panettiere peace. The actress had previously opened up about her personal struggles while promoting her book, “This Is Me.” Over the past year, Panettiere spoke candidly with the media about her battles with addiction and postpartum depression, as well as her estranged relationship with her mother.

Solange posted a picture of her and Panettiere on set of the 2006 film “Bring It On: All or Nothing.” In the film, Panettiere plays Britney Allen, a suburban transfer student who joins the Warriors cheer team, of which Solange was the captain.

“Rest in peace, Hayden,” Solange captioned the picture. “In peace, because you are so deserving of it. We had so many parallels in our lives, and the world watched you courageously live in your radical truth, telling your story. We watched your endless quest for vulnerability and healing.”

Solange continued, “I salute your journey, and I honor the work we created together that became something that really means something to people. Reaching people we couldn’t have ever imagined at the time, as two young girls trying to keep looking to the light. The light surrounds you now. Rest easy, Hayden.”

Solange Joined Other Celebrities Who Honored Hayden Panettiere Following Her Death

Solange was just one of the many celebrities who honored Panettiere following her tragic death. According to a previous report from The Blast, Viola Davis honored the actress with her own Instagram post, sharing pictures of them on the set of “Custody.”

Davis praised Panettiere not only as an actor, but as a person, reflecting on her “old, wise soul with such a deep heart.” Davis added that she wished she had more time with the mother of one because she wanted to learn more about her.

The “How to Get Away with Murder” actress added, “I saw this beautiful Phoenix rising from the ashes. Your tests became your testimony, and your testimony became your legacy. You will be remembered. Rest well, Hayden. Sending healing prayers to your family, your daughter, and all who loved you. May they always speak your name.”

Solange and Davis’ posts come just days after a representative for Panettiere shared that the actress had died at 36.

“It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden. She was an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her — and to the millions who watched her onscreen,” the statement to PEOPLE said.

Reports state that police and medical personnel were called to a residence in South Carolina on Sunday, August 16, and found Panettiere “unresponsive” and in cardiac arrest, according to ABC News. First responders issued “advanced cardiac life support measures” but were unsuccessful.

The details surrounding Panettiere’s death are still unknown, but officials were heard speaking about an “overdose” on dispatch audio, per The Blast. Another report from TMZ revealed that Narcan was found in the apartment where Panettiere died. Narcan, or Naloxone, is a fast-acting medicine that reverses an opioid overdose, according to the National Institute of Drug Abuse.

Panettiere’s struggles with addiction were widely known. The “Remember the Titans” actress spoke candidly about them in her book, “This Is Me,” and in recent interviews with Gayle King and Jay Shetty. King said that when Panettiere appeared on “CBS Mornings,” she told the respected journalist that she was in a good place. Despite that, King said she felt the actress was “clearly still struggling.”

Panettiere’s Co-Star Says She Was ‘Lonely’

Panettiere’s co-star, Justin Chatwin, shared a similar message, according to The Blast. The actor, who starred alongside Panettiere in the thriller “Sleepwalker,” said he enjoyed meeting and working with the Hollywood staple. However, he also said she was “struggling.” He added, ‘There’s a handful of women that I’ve worked with that I really liked, and I really loved working with her, but I also know that she was really lonely.”
