The Washington Commanders have a quick turnaround from Sunday’s 21-6 win over the New York Giants as they travel to play the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night. The first injury report of the week had a surprise with quarterback Jayden Daniels making an appearance on the list.
Per the Commanders’ website, the second-year quarterback was placed on the injury report for having a right wrist issue, which is on his throwing arm.
Washington estimated Daniels as a full participant for Monday, as the Commanders did not practice.
It’s unclear when Daniels suffered the injury. The 2024 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year didn’t appear bothered on Sunday, going 19-of-30 passing for 233 yards and a touchdown in the air and rushing 11 times for 68 yards in an impressive win over their NFC East opponent in front of 64,544 fans at Northwest Stadium.
The injury is one to keep an eye on this week, as Washington, who made last year’s NFC Championship game, is set to play a Packers squad that looked like a legitimate threat in the NFC when they dismantled the Detroit Lions, 27-13, on Sunday at Lambeau Field.
Green Bay’s defense, boosted by the addition of Micah Parsons, held Detroit quarterback Jared Goff and one of the best offenses from 2024 to just six points until the fourth quarter. The Packers defense sacked Goff four times.
While the injury to Daniels appears minor, that could become an issue if his wrist takes shots from Packers defenders on Thursday night.
