Team USA kept the memory of the late Johnny Gaudreau in mind throughout the Milan Cortina Olympics.

Gaudreau and his brother, Matthew, were killed on Aug. 29, 2024, after they were struck by a vehicle while they were riding bicycles near their home in Salem County, N.J., a day before they were set to attend the wedding of their sister Katie. They were 31 and 29.

How Team USA honored Johnny Gaudreau at Milan Cortina Olympics

At the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off, Team USA hung Johnny Gaudreau’s No. 13 sweater in the locker room before every game. The squad continued to do that at the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics.

After beating Team Canada 2-1 in the gold-medal game on Sunday, Team USA’s Auston Matthews, Matthew Tkachuk and Zach Werenski brought out another No. 13 jersey and skated around the ice.
