The NFL trade deadline has come and gone, but the San Francisco 49ers may be making the biggest mid-season acquisition in the league without trading a single player. Star running back Christian McCaffrey hasn’t played a snap this season while dealing with Achilles tendonitis, but is apparently on track to make his 2024 debut on Sunday against Tampa Bay. Even without CMC the 49ers are fourth in the NFL in rushing yards-per-game thanks to a combination of Jordan Mason and rookie Isaac Guerendo, but are a somewhat surprising 4-4. While the record might be disappointing for 49er fans at the moment, they are just half a game behind the NFC West-leading Arizona Cardinals and have plenty of time to assert their dominance over the division once their most dynamic player returns.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. Since entering the NFL in 2017, he trails just Alvin Kamara and Austin Ekeler in receptions for a running back with 429 (six behind Ekeler and 41 behind Kamara) in significantly fewer games due to his various injuries.
