Twelve seasons after the Houston Texans selected Jadeveon Clowney with the first-overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the former South Carolina Gamecock is heading back to where his professional career began.
Joining his fifth team in five seasons and officially an NFL “journeyman,” Clowney is joining Houston with slightly less fanfare than he did over a decade ago, but he seems to still have gas in the tank. In 13 games with the Dallas Cowboys last season, the now-33-year-old combined for 41 tackles, 12 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks. The difference here over his last two teams (Dallas and Carolina), is that the team is looking more for depth than production from the three-time Pro Bowler.
Both Danille Hunter and Will Anderson – who combined for 27 sacks in 2025 – are back for a Houston defense that finished with the fewest yards and second-fewest points allowed last year and intercepted Drake Maye four times in the AFC Divisional Round loss to New England.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. Clowney is one of 31 non-quarterbacks to be selected with the first-overall pick in the NFL Draft. How many of those players can you name in five minutes?
Good luck!
