Trump administration: Head in the sand at EPA

Re: “EPA set to unravel U.S. authority to regulate greenhouse gases” (July 28, Nation & World Politics):

Environmental Protection Agency head Lee Zeldin plans to end existing climate regulations. This flies in the face of well-established scientific evidence that we, the people of planet Earth, are our own worst enemies. We pollute and defile the very planet we live on every day. We will never learn.

A head-buried-in- the-sand approach is no way to combat climate change. To ignore man-made climate change will be one of the biggest mistakes that mankind ever makes. You should not mess with Mother Nature. We should be helping our planet — not trashing it. A problem cannot be solved if you will not acknowledge that the problem actually exists. Mother Nature and Father Time are bigger than those who are ignoring both of these entities. We can solve problems, but we cannot if we simply ignore them.

We are better than this. To lessen our environmental regulations is not a prudent or correct course of action. It only goes to show that the best of us are not in government at the present time.

    John F. Bowers, SeaTac
