Trump administration: How to truly espouse Christian ideals

“After prayer breakfast, Trump creates task force to root out ‘anti-Christian bias’ ” (Feb. 6, Nation & World):

Great news! President Donald Trump has announced that he’ll be attacking anti-Christian bias. As a Christian, I’m delighted. God must have saved our president for this reason.

No doubt his efforts, starting with actually reading the Bible, mean he’ll reverse his determination to block immigration (except for white South Africans) and welcome those of any color who truly seek a better life. He’ll restore the United States Agency for International Development to bring global healing to the sick and hungry, and renew federally funded research and grants that serve such ends.

His attack on anti-Christian bias will end his administration’s targeting of the less powerful, done in part to deflect attention from the real threats of corporate power to destroy our democracy, our global economy and our planet.

Christians work for that day when all things are possible with God, when the laborers — those who have been wronged by real bias of any kind, by war and oppression — come late to the vineyard yet are lifted by being paid equally to those who worked all day. All things are possible with God.

How hard it is for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.

    Pat Dougherty, Seattle
