Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Ty Simpson had his Heisman moment against Associated Press No. 14 Missouri (5-1, 1-1 in SEC) on Saturday.
The junior, in his first season as the team’s starting quarterback, delivered several big throws in key situations in the 27-24 win, none more than two fourth-down completions in a late touchdown drive that gave No. 8 Alabama (5-1, 3-0 in SEC) an insurmountable 10-point lead.
Simpson’s first big throw came on a 4th-and-8 from Missouri’s 38-yard line with under five minutes remaining. The Tigers couldn’t manufacture any pressure, and Simpson connected with freshman wideout Lotzeir Brooks on a beautiful 29-yard completion, showing excellent ball placement.
