UGA player and son of NFL Hall of Famer charged with 11 felony counts

Kirby Smart has one heck of a program in Athens. The Georgia Bulldogs have become perennial contenders under his watch, but it’s not like everything is perfect.

The Bulldogs have had multiple run-ins with the law over the past few years.

Reckless driving has become a problem among Georgia players. Multiple UGA players have gotten in trouble due to driving incidents. In 2023, football player Devin Willock and staffer Chandler LeCroy died in a high-speed car crash in the aftermath of the Bulldogs’ College Football Playoff National Championship win.

On Thursday, news came out that another Georgia player is in trouble. This time, though, it had to do with a “door kick challenge” on TikTok.

Thankfully, this seems much less serious than the driving incidents in the past, but it has still led to London Seymour, son of NFL Hall of Famer Richard Seymour, getting into legal trouble.

Seymour and three others allegedly damaged 11 doors in two dormitories on the UGA campus in early December.

Per Mark Schlabach of ESPN, he’s been charged with 11 felony counts of criminal property damage.

Seymour was arrested on Jan. 29 and was released on bond. His attorney, Kim Stephens, tells ESPN that the UGA Police Department has made this a bigger deal than it needs to be.

Richard Seymour’s son in trouble because of TikTok challenge

“The UGAPD took 11 warrants in a case that they could have and should have taken a single warrant,” Stephens said. “London and three other young men are alleged to have caused damage to 11 doors in a residence hall while participating in a viral TikTok ‘door kick’ challenge, as many other young people have done around the country.”

The attorney also believes that the case with be dismissed.

“I expect Mr. Seymour’s case will likely be dismissed upon completion of a Pretrial Diversion Program that would include paying for any damage to property,” Stephens said, according to the Athens Banner-Herald.

Seymour is a freshman from Suwanee, Georgia, and a former 3-star recruit. He was a walk-on this past season at UGA and played in just one game.
