The battle to end Wendy Williams‘ guardianship continues, with her attorney doubling down on his comments about the judge presiding over the case.

The former talk show host is represented by celebrity attorney Joe Tacopina, who has been vocal about his dissatisfaction with the case. The legal rep disliked the judge and the never-ending procedures required to regain his client’s freedom.

Joe Tacopina isn’t the only one advocating for Wendy Williams’ independence, as her family and the entertainer have slammed the system as an unlawful imprisonment and infringement upon her rights. Fortunately, the guardianship did not stop the media personality from enjoying her 61st birthday.

According to new reports, Williams celebrated her 61st birthday with her attorney at Fresco by Scotto restaurant in New York City. The pair was spotted by TMZ reporters, with Tacopina sharing his thoughts about the end of his client’s guardianship.

The legal rep stressed that he was disgusted by Williams’ guardianship, pledging to sue everyone involved in making her life miserable. He noted that it was far too easy to place a person under guardianship compared to dismissing the system, describing the process as “despicably slow.”

Tacopina added that Williams’ case was challenging because Judge Lisa Sokoloff appeared biased and uncooperative. He claimed her attitude showcased an unwillingness to free his client, noting it was quite possible she would deny their motion to end the guardianship.

If the judge refused to end Williams’ guardianship, Tacopina noted he would push for a jury trial. He echoed similar sentiments about the legal umpire’s unprofessional behavior in April after Sokoloff reportedly told his client her career was over.

Tacopina, per the outlet, labeled the judge’s words “outrageous,” stressing that she had no right to spew such negative statements when she knew nothing about the entertainment industry. He added that her words were unrelated to Williams’ guardianship and should never have come up.

The celebrity attorney claimed Sokoloff was lucky he wasn’t present in court when she berated Williams, stating he would have ripped her apart.

Additionally, the gag order she issued against Williams’ family did not sit right with him. He explained that gag orders were typically issued in jury-related trials and not guardianships.

Tacopina wasn’t the only one offended by the judge’s insensitive comments; The Blast reported that social media users were equally outraged. Sokoloff not only declared that Williams’ TV career was done but also attacked her family, claiming they were up to no good.

The judge primarily criticized Williams’ niece, Alex Finnie, who has been vocal about her aunt’s alleged mistreatment and struggles under her court-appointed guardian. Sokoloff accused Finnie of releasing sensitive information to the media and threatened her with sanctions.

The legal umpire’s behavior sparked backlash on X, with many stressing that Sokoloff should be taken off the case for being biased, unprofessional, and racist.

Others suspected the judge was a part of the efforts to keep Williams under guardianship, while some believed Sokoloff had a personal grudge against the TV personality.

Although Williams’ guardianship drama has no end in sight, it did not stop her from enjoying her 61st birthday. The Blast reported that the former talk show host was in high spirits when she enjoyed dinner at Delmonico the day before her birthday.
