If you read the Gateway Pundit, you know that comedian Bill Burr has made some controversial and very left wing statements in recent months.
He said that billionaires should be put down like rabid dogs during a media appearance where he seemed to support alleged murderer Luigi Mangione. Then he went on The View and trashed Elon Musk.
He was recently approached by reporters while he was attending an award ceremony and they asked him about these positions. Suddenly, Bill Burr didn’t want to talk about politics. He even went so far as to play dumb, claiming that he went to summer school and isn’t qualified to discuss such matters. What gives?
The Daily Mail has details:
But deterred by controversy over his stances, Burr seemed to reach a breaking point when a reporter who said they’d ‘read up’ on him asked the comic about his controversial statements on the red carpet for the 2025 Mark Twain Prize for American Humor which feted Conan O’Brien.
‘I don’t think you read up on it because I said what I felt about it, and I said what a lot of people said,’ he responded.
When the reporter poked at him again, he bluntly said: ‘No, I’m not gonna’ just have some controversial moment so you can get clicks. I’m not doing that.’…
‘I’m not doing all of this. What are you gonna bring up next? The Middle East? I went to summer school three out of four years in high school. I’m not qualified to talk about this.’
Burr seemed to grow completely sick of the line of questioning when asked about the relationship between Trump and ‘First Buddy’ Musk.
‘I don’t watch the news! I have no idea what’s going on,’ he quipped, saying that he mostly watched silly videos on the internet.

Jesse Kelly has a theory about this.
My completely unsubstantiated theory is that Bill Burr got paid to do that anti-Trump media tour he just completed. Someone wrote him a big check and he did it and now he’s catching all kinds of heat from his base and he’s sore about the whole affair.

Whatever the reason, it’s amazing to watch Burr claim he’s not smart enough to comment on these matters. That hasn’t been an issue for the past few months. What changed?
