Why Shaboozey Believes Beyoncé Is A ‘God’ After Working With Her For ‘CC’

Shaboozey has had one heck of a year. Not only did the country singer snag his first Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 single with “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” but he also secured two features on Beyoncé‘s chart-topping album, “Cowboy Carter,” which was a full-length country album that also included covers of Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” and The Beatles’ “Blackbird.”

In the past, Shaboozey has opened up about how grateful he was to the Destiny’s Child alum for making space for him on her eighth studio album, calling her one of the “hardest working” people in the music industry. And during his recent conversation with Haadiza Ogwude and David Wysong from The Cincinnati Enquirer, Shaboozey praised Beyoncé even more following the conclusion of her record-breaking “Cowboy Carter” tour and explained why views her as a “God.”

For those unfamiliar, Shaboozey was featured on the songs “SPAGHETTII” and “SWEET HONEY BUCKIIN” on Beyoncé’s recent country project. Throughout the “Cowboy Carter” era, Shaboozey was also awarded several unique experiences, such as performing next to Beyoncé during her NFL Christmas Day Halftime show, dubbed “Beyoncé Bowl,” and also singing next to her during the final night of her “CC” tour in Las Vegas, which has gone on to become the highest-grossing country tour of all time.

Working closely with her since before the album was released in March 2024, Shaboozey has likely seen a lot, which explains why he called Beyoncé a “God” during his interview with Cincinnati.com. “Seeing someone at that level still kind of giving it they’re all, putting on a hell of a show. But also, she’s just very warm and inviting, very welcoming. It’s like family to me, honestly. It was awesome. She’s a legend,” he said.

Shaboozey also discussed how focused Beyoncé is behind the scenes, explaining that the 35-time Grammy winner takes her craft extremely seriously.

“No one does the work for you … that’s my biggest thing. She’s recording them songs, she’s writing on them songs, she’s arranging them songs. She’s putting that show together. It’s her doing it. It’s not something that’s just handed off to people. So, that was inspiring to see that you got to work. It’s on you,” he said.

Shaboozey, born Collins Obinna Chibueze, shared a similar statement about Beyoncé in January 2025. According to a previous report from The Blast, the “Good News” singer refers to Beyoncé as “the homie” because she’s always in his corner offering love and support.

He later labeled the mother of three “the hardest working woman in music,” later clarifying, “maybe the hardest working human in music.”

When Beyoncé’s “Cowboy Carter” project was released, she was met with much resistance from country music fans. Even country singers, such as Gavin Adcock, slammed the album, declaring that it’s “never gonna be country.”

Elsewhere, during his conversation with The Enquirer, however, Shaboozey explained how happy he was to see more Black artists entering the country music arena. , It’s a “cool” thing to see because “music shouldn’t really be conditioned to what someone looks like,” he said. To him, the music is about the “story” and “connection it has with artists.”

“I think a lot more people should not be afraid to create from that genre. It’s definitely a genre of music where I think the public perception is that it’s not really open to a lot of new faces. But I always say this, ‘Man, it’s beautiful to see,'” he shared.

Beyoncé echoed that sentiment during the 2025 Grammy Awards, when she won the Gramophones for “Best Country Album” and “Album of the Year.”

During her speech, the 43-year-old told the audience and watchers at home that “genre” is a “code-word” used by others to “keep us in our place as artists.”

She finished by encouraging everyone to “do what they’re passionate about.”
