Why Taylor Swift And Travis Kelce Are ‘Taking A Break From The Public Eye’

Reports have emerged explaining why Taylor Swift and her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, have avoided public appearances in recent weeks.

The couple is said to be keeping a low profile because they are on a “break” from the limelight.

Previously, it was reported that Taylor Swift was facing some personal issues, and Travis Kelce was “desperate” to protect her from getting involved in other matters.

Since Kelce’s team, the Kansas City Chiefs lost the Super Bowl to the Philadelphia Eagles, the footballer, and his pop star girlfriend, Swift, have disappeared from the limelight, raising questions about their whereabouts.

Their decision to keep a low profile is now being attributed to the couple’s desire to take some time for themselves, away from their professional lives.

“Taylor and Travis are doing great, and they’re still very much together and in love,” a source said, per US Weekly. “They’re just taking a break from the public eye.”

Indeed, Kelce spent much of last year busy with the Chiefs, where he plays as a tight end and will return for the upcoming season.

Similarly, Swift was also kept busy with her record-breaking Eras Tour, although she still found time to attend many of Kelce’s games, including the Super Bowl.

For now, Swift and Kelce have been switching between Kelce’s home in Kansas and Swift’s residences in Nashville, Rhode Island, and New York, according to a second source.

While at these locations, the duo are “doing nothing at all,” preferring to spend their time watching movies and working out.

Sometimes, they also host their friends and family at their homes rather than hitting the town where they would be seen by everyone.

Considering everything they had to go through the previous year, they are now “enjoying some R&R” and are “making the most of their time off,” per a third source.

“They’re fully living their best lives,” the insider added.

A fourth insider also hinted that the couple decided to stay low-key lately because they realized being in the spotlight isn’t good for their relationship.

“Taylor and Travis have learned that so much attention on their relationship is not the best thing,” the source noted.

Previously, it was reported that Swift was dealing with personal matters behind the scenes, which contributed to her prolonged break from the spotlight.

According to the Daily Mail, one of the crises involves the highly publicized legal feud between her former best friend, Blake Lively, and film director Justin Baldoni, with the singer keen on avoiding further entanglement in the drama.

Additionally, Swift is coping with the fallout from her close friend Jaime King losing the custody battle for her godson, Leo, to her ex-husband, filmmaker Kyle Newman, due to issues related to drug and alcohol addiction.

Despite being hurt over the issue, Swift remains committed to being Leo’s godmother.

“[Swift] will always honor and cherish her commitment to being a godmother to Jaime’s son Leo, and any suggestions that she has ditched Jaime or Leo are false,” an insider told the outlet.

Other sources also noted that the pop star “has so much love for Jaime and always will,” regardless of the latter’s addiction struggles.

Fortunately for Swift, she has Kelce, who is “desperate” to protect her from getting “sucked into anything more than she already has.”

“Travis is Taylor’s rock, and he will do anything and everything he needs to do to keep her safe,” the source remarked. “She is the number one priority in his life right now.”

For now, it’s been only him doing the job, as the duo have not been communicating with their friends Patrick Mahomes and Brittany Mahomes, who recently welcomed a daughter.

“[Swift and Kelce] aren’t hanging out with Patrick and Brittany right now,” another insider mentioned.

“The two couples aren’t avoiding each other because of any tension, they just have other priorities right now,” they added. “Travis and Taylor will get their friend and family fix in no time, but right now, it’s all about the relationship.”

On a recent episode of his New Heights podcast, Kelce, the Chiefs tight end, shared that he turns to his girlfriend’s music to uplift his spirits when feeling “depressed,” especially after his defeat at the Super Bowl 2025.

Speaking with his brother and co-host, Jason Kelce, Travis expressed that Swift’s diverse discography resonates with various emotions, stating, “She has something for everything.”

Jason concurred, noting, “No matter what mood [you’re in], you can find some Taylor music.”

However, the former Philadelphia Eagles player shared that he prefers “sad country” tunes during low moments.

He explained: “No matter how bad I’m feeling, there’s a country guy who is singing about it and feeling way worse for me, and that gives me joy.”

Travis then emphasized that his music choices reflect his current feelings. He said, “The only way you can find yourself in the light is to find yourself in the dark first.”
