    A tragic shooting at Young Park in Las Cruces, New Mexico, has left the community reeling after three teenagers were killed and 15 others injured during an unsanctioned car show on Friday night.

    The incident occurred during an unsanctioned car show that drew approximately 200 attendees. Authorities have arrested four individuals in connection with the shooting: 20-year-old Tomas Rivas, two 17-year-old boys, and a 15-year-old boy. Each faces three open counts of murder, with additional charges pending.

    The victims who lost their lives have been identified as 16-year-old Andrew Madrid, 18-year-old Jason Gomez, and 19-year-old Dominick Estrada. Madrid and Gomez were pronounced dead at the scene, while Estrada succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.

    The injured, ranging in age from 16 to 36, include nine males and six females, according to Las Cruces Police.

    An altercation between two groups with prior disputes escalated into a deadly exchange of gunfire.

    On Saturday evening, police arrested Tomas Rivas, 20, and a 17-year-old boy. Both are charged with three open counts of murder. Additional charges are pending.

    Rivas will be booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center where he will initially be held without bond. The juvenile will be remanded to the juvenile detention facility.

    The investigation is ongoing.

    The victims who perished in Friday’s shooting have been identified as Andrew Madrid, 16; Jason Gomez, 18; and Dominick Estrada, 19. Madrid and Gomez died on scene. Estrada was transported to MountainView Regional Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.

    The other 15 victims, whose ages range from 16-36, were injured in the shooting. Of the 15 victims, nine are male and six are female. To help protect their privacy, police will not release their names publicly.

    Law enforcement partners are continuing their investigation and are actively following multiple leads. LCPD is receiving assistance from the FBI, ATF, New Mexico State Police, the Third Judicial District Attorney’s Office and the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

    The shooting occurred shortly after 10 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2025, at Young Park, 850 S. Walnut St. Las Cruces police and fire personnel were dispatched to reports of gunfire and possible gunshot victims in the parking lot of Young Park. Some of the injured were transported to local hospitals with seven subsequently taken to hospitals in El Paso, Texas. Current medical conditions of the surviving victims are not available at this time.

    Sunday morning, Las Cruces police arrested a third suspect for his involvement in Friday’s mass shooting at Young Park.

    The third arrestee is a 17-year-old boy. He joins another 17-year-old boy and 20-year-old Tomas Rivas who were arrested Saturday. All three are charged with three open counts of murder. Additional charges against all three are pending.

    Rivas was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center early Sunday morning. He is initially being held without bond. Both juveniles are incarcerated in the juvenile section of the detention facility.

    About 12:20 p.m. Sunday, March 23, police arrested a 15-year-old boy and charged him with three open counts of murder. The three previous arrests on this case – two 17-year-old boys and 20-year-old Tomas Rivas – all face the same charges. Additional charges are pending for all suspects.

    The three juveniles are incarcerated in the juvenile section of the Dona Ana County Detention Center. Rivas is on the adult side and is initially being held without bond.
