Through the first week of the season, the injury bug has once again already hit the San Francisco 49ers.
Despite a dominant Week 1 win against the Los Angeles Rams, the 49ers suffered two injuries on offense that have now turned into at least a month of missed action for both players.
De’Zhaun Stribling and Jake Tonges are headed to IR
Rookie wide receiver De’Zhaun Stribling and fourth-year tight end Jake Tonges are reportedly both headed to IR, meaning they’ll have to miss at least the next four games.
Stribling (ankle) was expected to play a key role as a rookie with some of the injuries the San Francisco receiver room has already experienced. Tonges (MCL injury) took a leap forward last season with 293 yards and five touchdowns but was expected to see a decrease in production with the return of George Kittle.
Both Stribling and Tonges will not be eligible to play again until Week 6 when the 49ers welcome in the Washington Commanders for a “Monday Night Football” game.
