Technical Difficulties Mar Carrie Underwood’s Performance

Underwood looked incredibly gorgeous on Monday as she stepped up to perform at the inauguration. She wore a simple but lovely gray sleeveless dress, which she paired with matching stilettos, and flaunted her blonde hair.

However, when it was time for her performance to begin, she had to wait as an apparent technical issue with the music persisted.

Underwood looked uncomfortable and gripped the microphone while waiting for the background music to play. She also looked around the inauguration room as those present wondered what was happening.

An end seemed to be in sight when a burst of music played, but it was short-lived. This prompted Underwood to perform the song A cappella.

She probed the audience to sing with her without background music, saying, “If you know the words, help me out here.” Ultimately, Underwood gave a powerful performance that earned her so much praise online.

After it was revealed that Underwood would perform at Trump’s inauguration, she was reportedly criticized by “American Idol” producers.

The producers were allegedly on edge that her performance, which was happening over a month before the show’s March 9 premiere, would cause backlash and reduce ratings after the inauguration.

An insider told The U.S. Sun, “I don’t think anyone at the show knew about Carrie singing at the inauguration ahead of it coming out, it caught them all off guard.”

They added, “It doesn’t conflict with any of her Idol taping dates and it is before this season airs, so it doesn’t go against anything in her contract. But there are producers that don’t approve and are worried.

According to the source, “American Idol” producers feared that fans would boycott the show because of Underwood’s decision to perform at the inauguration.

They said, “A lot of viewers are already speaking of a boycott, whether or not that’s true or just noise will be seen after the ratings come in but the conversation it now brings Idol into is not what producers want. They don’t want the show to get political, they want it to be an escape from that.”

Underwood concluded, “I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future.”

Although some people might feel Underwood’s decision to perform at the inauguration could mean her support for Donald Trump, the 41-year-old songstress has previously spoken of her resolve to stay away from politics.

In a 2019 interview with The Guardian, she said, “I feel like more people try to pin me places politically. I try to stay far out of politics if possible, at least in public, because nobody wins.”

Underwood added, “It’s crazy. Everybody tries to sum everything up and put a bow on it, like it’s black and white. And it’s not like that.”
