Chiefs star speaks out after fighting with teammate in loss

YouTube broadcast cameras caught an ugly moment between Kansas City Chiefs teammates near the end of their 27-21 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Chargers’ win was cemented when star defensive lineman Chris Jones, who had outside contain while lined up as a defensive end, rushed inside on a third down. Quarterback Justin Herbert ran the ball for 19 yards and a game-winning first down, as the Chiefs had no remaining timeouts after the two-minute warning.

The mistake was out of character for Jones, an All-Pro and six-time Pro Bowl athlete who is the best player on the defense. But even his status on Kansas City’s roster didn’t make him immune to criticism.

Chiefs linebacker Drue Tranquill, who made a sack on the play prior, setting up a 3rd-and-14, took off his helmet and confronted Jones for failing to maintain outside leverage.
