It is disappointing to see the ACLU devoting time and resources to opposing House Bill 2112, which would require age verification for online porn access.
As an early childhood educator, I know that the average age of exposure to this misogynistic and often violent material is 8 years old. Our children are not able to develop a healthy sense of bodily autonomy and sexuality with unfettered access to porn. These sites should be responsible for setting up secure access to age verification, as have other online resources.
Please, progressives, let’s focus on building a safer, more healthy future for our children and our democracy at this critical time in our history.
