Income tax: ‘One side of the equation’

Re: “WA income tax passes Senate, Ferguson expected to sign into law” (March 11, Local News):

Numerous articles have been featured over the past couple of months discussing the now passed “millionaires tax.” What seems to have received little coverage is how the Legislature might be addressing the costs of running our state government.

After passing a significant tax increase in 2025, and now adding another, apparently large increase, it seems that all our elected officials prefer to do is focus on one side of the equation.

It’s my understanding that the state’s tax revenues have never been higher, and since those levels don’t seem to be enough, perhaps more time and effort should be spent reviewing and changing where we’re spending all that money, as opposed to coming up with yet another new tax.

    David Klemetson, Burien
