NFL insider thinks Kelce-Swift wedding gave hint about future of Chiefs star

As had been expected, the wedding involving Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and entertainment superstar Taylor Swift became arguably the most-discussed event of the July 4 holiday weekend.

NFL insider Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk thinks the wedding may have also offered a hint regarding what Kelce plans to do whenever he calls time on his playing career.

NFL media partners “had a very strong presence at the” Travis Kelce-Taylor Swift wedding

According to Florio, Fox and Amazon “had a very strong presence at the ceremony, with even rules analyst Dean Blandino on the guest list.” Florio added that “there also was a solid presence from ESPN,” and he shared that CBS NFL commentators Jim Nantz and Tony Romo were also present for the wedding.

“The inclusions and omissions invite speculation that Travis may be thinking about future media employment,” Florio wrote for a piece published on Sunday.

Florio’s update is hardly shocking, as it was reported earlier this year that Kelce “wants to do games” for one of the league’s media partners. He and former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, Travis’ brother, co-host a very successful podcast together. Meanwhile, Jason Kelce began working as part of ESPN’s NFL coverage in 2024.

Where could Travis Kelce work if he retires from playing early next year?

This past spring, former Pittsburgh Steelers
head coach Mike Tomlin accepted a job to serve as an analyst for NBC’s “Football Night in America” program. It sounds like Travis Kelce may have eyes on a different position this summer.

“There were rumors in media circles last year that Travis was interested in Kirk Herbstreit’s seat in the ‘Thursday Night Football’ booth,” Florio added. “With Herbstreit’s deal running through 2026, Travis (who already has a relationship with Amazon through the ‘New Heights’ podcast) could be in line to take the spot. And he could then, if he wanted, join the desk at Fox NFL Sunday when the next spot opens.”

Florio also mentioned that Travis Kelce “would get whichever gig he wants, at any network with an available spot.” Travis Kelce turns 37 years old this coming fall, but it’s unclear if he plans to play beyond the upcoming season.
