Actor Val Kilmer, best-known for his roles in Batman Forever and The Doors, died in Los Angeles at the age of 65, the New York Times reported late on Tuesday (Apr 1).
According to his daughter, Mercedes Kilmer, the cause of death was pneumonia. He had been diagnosed with throat cancer in 2014 but later recovered.
He first debuted in the comedy Top Secret! in 1984 and would later make a name for himself playing the singer Jim Morrison in the 1991 film The Doors by director Oliver Stone. He would also be cast in 1993’s True Romance, written by Quentin Tarantino, which starred Christian Slater.
His other films include The Saint (1997) and most famously, Batman Forever (1995), where he took on the titular role in a stint between Michael Keaton and George Clooney.
