    Battery recycling: ‘Negligence’ | The Seattle Times

    Re: “Recycling lead for U.S. car batteries is poisoning people” (Nov. 20, Business):

    I cannot think of a better example of profit-driven behavior shouting for government regulation.

    In America, the owners of property are liable for the safety of those working there. The owner is also liable if the product made recklessly endangers others. These are only two of the basic principles that make the United States a great nation to live in.

    If Nigeria hasn’t the common decency to subscribe to these principles, then the access to a market created by its negligence should not be permitted to anyone doing business here.

    When I recycle an item it is for the good of the planet. I do not intend it to harm anyone.
